🎨 The creative world of an illustrator
The great thing about being an illustrator is that things change from day to day. One day I can dedicate it completely to new ideas and concepts that I want to capture, other day to marketing or I could spend them entirely producing illustrations. Each day varies depending on the projects with clients or those that are personal projects, so I will try to share with you what a day in the life of an illustrator with different tasks is like.
A digital illustrator's workshop

This is what my studio looks like at the moment. The main protagonists are my XP-Pen screen for illustrating and a second monitor where I usually have references or watch series while I work. I love my desk because it's huge and I can move things around without any problem.
Three things I always keep on my desk:
🥤 A large glass of water so you don't forget the importance of staying hydrated.
📝 Paper and pencil at hand because at any moment some idea or some task that I have to write down immediately may happen.
🧩 Anti-stress balls and fidget toys: they help me concentrate while working on my projects.
🌟 Work and illustration rituals.
Breakfast and coffee
This is the most important thing for me. I can't start the day without breakfast, so I usually eat something light with coffee. Without coffee, I feel like I'm not doing anything. It's a pretty well implemented habit in my head.
Planning the day's projects and goals
When I enter my studio, the first thing I do is open Google Calendar, my favorite tool to have a complete overview of what is ahead of that day. I use the Time Blocking methodology to assign specific times to each task so I have a clear idea of how much time I will spend on each task.
I split my day into two parts:
The first part focuses on marketing and branding: I update my Instagram, look for new clients, communicate with them, answer questions, among other things. These are tasks that require a little more energy and a lot of responsibility, so I try to get them done before noon.
The second part of the day is dedicated to production: After lunch, I focus on creating custom illustration pieces, products for my illustration store, finalizing digital illustrations, etc. I make sure to complete pending assignments with clients and make progress on my personal projects.
It is essential to manage time properly in order to avoid draining my body and creativity. My current work methodology is based on my energy level and the time I have available. I illustrate for 60 minutes straight and then take a 10-minute break. During that time, I try to get away from the studio to rest my body, eyes and mind.
🌙 Closing the workshop
At the end of the day, I have my own rituals to close the studio. I check the to-dos for the next day on my Google Calendar. I organize my desk, leaving it completely clean as I found it in the morning, putting everything in its place. This is my personal routine. However, I recognize that there are other illustrators who love to have their chaos because it gives them that spark of creativity, that is also a valid choice. It all depends on individual preferences.
🌈 Conclusion of the day in the life of a digital illustrator
The day of a digital illustrator or artist is very dynamic. Every day changes. The important thing is to know how to organize yourself according to your energy and according to the needs of your projects. It is very nice to have this possibility to be creative with your times, it not only helps to break routines, but also to adapt according to the importance and the need of your creative projects.
